In the early 19th century (and before) ex libris, (Latin "from books") was used to identify a book, typically using a wax seal in the form of a family's coat of arms. Later book plates were made of paper and became ornate in their design, but always were used to identify ownership. Though you may not have a coat of arms to print for your book plates today, you will enjoy our fun themes and colorful images which can be personalized in the next step.
